Xbox and Bethesda Developer_Direct Recap
The Xbox Developer_Direct offered deep dives into upcoming games and a completely unexpected surprise in Hi-Fi Rush.
During today's Developer_Direct, Xbox and Bethesda teams offered a deeper look at titles arriving early in 2023 and beyond. The 45-minute showcase went inside the studios creating titles like Forza Motorsport, Minecraft Legends, Redfall, and The Elder Scrolls Online to give gamers an idea of how these games are taking shape. Along with extensive gameplay footage and deeper insight into each game, the teams also revealed release dates for the upcoming titles that will release on Xbox, PC, and Game Pass.
To the delight of fans, Xbox also had a surprise reveal with the game Hi-Fi RUSH. Developer Tango Gameworks showed off the game for the first time and immediately launched it after the showcase. The rhythm-action game is now available via Game Pass on Xbox Series X|S and PC.
Minecraft Legends – Coming April 18th, 2023
Mojang Studios and Blackbird Interactive kicked things off announcing the much-anticipated launch of Minecraft Legends, which will be released on April 18th. Adventurers can immerse themselves in a world packed full of riches and danger. Along their path, they will find familiar creatures and allies, as well as come face-to-face with mysterious characters that are sure to surprise them. With those newfound friends at their side, players must prepare for an intense battle against the piglins - one that requires strategy and cunning! Minecraft Legends will offer a PvP mode where two teams of four players each join forces to acquire resources, craft fortresses and launch attacks against the enemy's defences.
Minecraft Legends will be available on April 18th on Xbox Game Pass, PC Game Pass, Windows 11/10 PC, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5|4, Steam and Nintendo Switch.
Forza Motorsport – Arrives in 2023
Turn 10 Studios gave everyone a look under the hood of Forza Motorsport's development progress. The game looks stunning, with hyperrealistic cars, tracks, weather and dynamic lighting. By leveraging the sheer power of Xbox Series X|S, Forza Motorsport looks to become the most realistic racing game out there. With painstaking detail devoted to cars, tracks and the environment alike, Forza is set to be the ultimate racing experience. The latest entry in the storied series will introduce a new online racing mode and a single-player career with car customization features.
Forza Motorsport is slated for an Xbox Series X|S and PC release in 2023. Look forward to more details on a specific launch window as we approach the summer.
Hi-Fi Rush - Available Now
Tango Gameworks offered one of the biggest shocks with the surprise announcement and immediate launch of Hi-Fi RUSH. Tango Gameworks' latest is a single-player rhythm action game that takes you to an over-the-top world where everything operates in sync with the beat, including combat sequences.
You play as Chai, a daydreaming wanna-be rockstar with a music player that is accidentally fused to his chest. With an entourage of eclectic allies and music from renowned bands such as Nine Inch Nails and The Black Keys, Chai must utilize rhythmic combat to take down his foes.
The adrenaline-pumping action of Hi-Fi RUSH is available now on the Xbox Series X|S, PC via Game Pass, Steam and Epic Games Store.
The Elder Scrolls Online: Necrom - Coming in June
ZeniMax Online Studios unveiled the details around the next chapter update for ESO players. This June, players will be able to immerse themselves in the mysterious world of Morrowind and explore its untamed eastern regions with The Elder Scrolls Online: Necrom. In addition, the Chapter will deliver the most requested feature by fans: a playable class called Arcanist.
ZOS also announced a free trial of ESO Plus, allowing all Game Pass and base game players access to the previous Chapters (with the exception of High Isle) and accompanying DLC.
This June, The Elder Scrolls Online: Necrom will be available on PC/Mac and the Xbox and PlayStation consoles.
Redfall – Coming May 2nd, 2023
Arkane Austin unveiled more details around Redfall, including an extended gameplay look. The footage showed off an expansive world filled with scores of vampires (including the powerful Vampire Gods), customization options, psychic Vampire Nests and more. The wait for the vampire hunting fun isn't long, as it arrives on May 2nd, bringing single- and multi-player vampire hunting to the bloody streets of Redfall, Mass.
Redfall will be available through Game Pass for Xbox Series X|S and PC on May 2nd, 2023.
The future of Xbox gaming
Today gave us an exciting look at the Xbox gaming line-up coming from now, into the summer. From Hi-Fi RUSH to The Elder Scrolls Online: Necrom, Microsoft delivered a slew of exciting games and experiences that look to offer a range of exciting experiences.
Outside of the Developer_Direct release window, Xbox also shared that a completely separate show dedicated to Starfield is in the works. This will give fans an in-depth look at this hotly anticipated title at a later date. Furthermore, Microsoft also announced it is busy preparing for its annual summer show in Los Angeles but stopped short of mentioning E3 by name. With an exciting lineup of games, experiences and content now in tow, Xbox looks to build on its portfolio of games that are sure to please fans all around the world.
