PlayStation VR2 Headset Specifications

The PlayStation VR2 will have much smoother and sharper visuals than its predecessor. The new OLED display resolution has been improved packing 2000 x 2040 pixels displayed per eye. The new design will also use a single cord configuration, greatly streamlining the setup time for users. Your movements and the direction you look at are reflected in-game without the need for an external camera, cutting down on the amount of hardware to set up.

Eye-tracking capability

The VR2 headset will feature 4 cameras for headset and controller tracking IR camera that will offer eye-tracking. The field of view will extend to approximately 110 degrees giving players a wider range of sight. As Sony revealed, "PS VR2 detects the motion of your eyes, so a simple look in a specific direction can create an additional input for the game character. This allows players to interact more intuitively in new and lifelike ways, allowing for heightened emotional response and enhanced expression that provide a new level of realism in gaming."

A greater sensorial experience

The VR2 will also sport enhanced 3D audio in combination with vibrations of the headset itself. Much of this is similar to the technology offered in the PS5, the application for the VR2 has me quite excited.

The new Sense Controllers are designed to give players a more immersive gaming experience.

They employ the same vibration hardware as the DualSense controllers. Looking at what developers have been able to achieve with titles like Astro's Playroom and Returnal is nothing short of incredible.
