Capcom Showcase 2022 Highlights

The Capcom Showcase offered new looks at the Resident Evil franchise, Exoprimal, Monster Hunter Rise and much more, here are all the announcements.

The busy video game announcement season continues with Capcom giving an extended look at some of their previously announced titles. Here are all the new details and trailers from Capcom's event:


Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak

The broadcast kicked off with a look at the upcoming Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak which will launch on June 30th, 2022. Ryozo Tsujimoto, series producer started the Capcom Showcase with a new trailer. Monster Hunter: World launched a series of videos dedicated to the most iconic monsters in Monster Hunter history, including the Elder Dragon Zorah Magtatas and Vespula. The video also featured an update on the Jungle area from Monster Hunter 2, Espinas the Thorn Wyvern from Monster Hunt Frontier, and the frenzied approach of Monster Hunter 4 which looks very exciting.

You can preview the action when a free demo for Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak drops on June 14th for the Nintendo Switch and Steam.

Resident Evil Village Continues to Grow and Evolve

The much-anticipated DLC for Resident Evil Village: The Winters' Expansion will be released on October 28, 2022. The new content includes a Third-Person Mode for the campaign, The Mercenaries Additional Orders featuring new stages and playable characters Chris Redfield, Heisenberg, and Lady Dimitrescu; and a continuation of the story in Shadows of Rose. Set 16 years after the events of Resident Evil Village, this sequel follow Rose Winters, Ethan's daughter, as she struggles to control her powers.

Resident Evil Village Gold Edition, a bundle of the Winters’ Expansion and the main game, will also launch on Oct. 28, 2022 in physical and digital formats for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Steam, and Stadia.


Resident Evil Re:Verse the multiplayer experience will be free for Resident Evil Village players, and will also go live on October 28th. Tsuyoshi Kanda, producer of RE Village, also shared that the game is in development for PlayStation VR2 and Mac versions are now in production.


Resident Evil 4 Extended Gameplay

Resident Evil 4 Director Yasuhiro Ampo and Producer Yoshiaki Hirabayashi spoke about the current re-imagining of the 2005 classic. The development team aims to dial up the original release’s key feelings of loneliness and the fear of enemies blinded by zealotry; when the action-packed survival horror title reawakens March 24, 2023.

Resident Evil Classics Reanimate for Next-Gen Consoles

Three enhanced Resident Evil games are coming to the Xbox Series S | X and the PlayStation 5. Resident Evil 2, Resident Evil 3, and Resident Evil 7 are all reanimating today on PS5 and Series X with native 4K resolution, ray tracing, improved frame rates, and 3D audio implementation.


PlayStation 5's Dual Sense controller will have haptic feedback and adaptive trigger functionality added. Players who own the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One copies can upgrade to the newest versions of the games at no extra cost. PC patches for all three titles arrive today as well.

Exoprimal on the Horizon

The first chance to repel a swarm of dinosaurs in Exoprimal, Capcom's newest franchise, will be available next month. You can Register today for a chance to participate in the closed network test on Steam this July to be the first Exofighters to try out this team-based action game before it releases in 2023.

Exoprimal Director Takuro Hiraoka presented a briefing on the main game mode, Dino Survival. In this multiplayer mode, two teams of five players each race to complete orders assigned by Leviathan, the artificial intelligence behind the dinosaur outbreaks. Teams must complete missions before their rivals to win, stay alive, and continue searching for a way to escape Leviathan’s deadly games.


A new trailer revealed a number of objectives that make up Dino Survival, including VTOL Defense and Omega Charge. The trailer also debuted two new Assault class Exosuits, which are heavily armed. Barrage, a burning bombardier, and the rail gun-wielding sniper Vigilant join a growing armory of futuristic suits that teams can swap between on-the-fly to coordinate and overcome any challenge. Many game modes pit groups of players against swaths of dinos, but there are other PvP and PvE modes where you face off against rival teams or even cooperate to take down common threats.

Additional Capcom Franchise Cameos

  • Street Fighter 6 – The next evolution of Capcom’s blockbuster fighting franchise welcomes new players in 2023 with new visuals, battle mechanics, control options, characters, in-game commentary features, and story mode


  • Capcom Fighting Collection – On June 24, 2022, an anthology of 10 classic competitive arcade fighting games with online multiplayer included, launch worldwide.


  • Capcom Arcade 2nd Stadium – The arcade collection continues the retro action with a bundle of 32 cherished arcade titles launching on July 22, 2022

There you have it, the show featured multiple new additions to the world of Resident Evil, including the Village Gold Edition and its Winters' Expansion, plus three enhanced Resident Evil titles and an extended sneak peak at the recently revealed Resident Evil 4. We also got a new look at Exoprimal and other Capcom titles including Street Fighter 6, Capcom Fighting Collection, and Capcom Arcade 2nd Stadium.
